CentrePort Canada is our country’s first Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) and
inland port, featuring an impressive transportation network that will
move your goods effectively to markets throughout North America
and across the world.
The Government of Manitoba is supporting this effort with a $4 billion, 10-year plan to further upgrade our province’s roads and bridges. We are also working with the federal government on several projects important to CentrePort Canada, including:
Hwy 75 to United States border -- $90.2 million to upgrade Hwy 75, which is part of the Mid-Continent Trade and Transportation Corridor and connects to US I-29 at the Emerson border, one of Canada’s top border crossings.
CentrePort Canada Way -- $212.4 million to build a new highspeed corridor linking the inland port to the Perimeter Hwy
The Churchill Gateway – $68 million in public and private sector funding to improve facilities at the Port of Churchill and upgrade the Hudson Bay rail line that links Winnipeg to the port.
Manitoba’s abundant, affordable and reliable hydro-power is also a key part of our business advantage. Manitoba Hydro is moving forward on the construction of the Conawapa Generating Station—our largest-ever hydro-electric project. New projects like Conawapa help keep our energy costs among the lowest in North America.
The private sector is also contributing with investments such as the expansion of the James A. Richardson International Airport. The airport is in the middle of a $585-million redevelopment which includes new groundside site services, additional aircraft parking capacity and a new terminal building targeted for completion in 2010.
The public and private sector work together in Manitoba to seize new opportunities and build our economy. Together, we are sending a strong, united message that Manitoba is open for business—your business.
