DEVELOPMENT APPROACH
CentrePort Canada Inc. champions a “live, work, play and learn” approach to development. Planned as a complete community, the overarching vision for the area is to: encourage sustainable and innovative building practices; protect ecological areas; implement sustainable transportation options; establish a residential area; and, form partnerships with educational institutions to support a local skilled workforce.

A new 500-acre residential community is being planned on City of Winnipeg lands in the southwest corner of the footprint. The new community, will bring much-needed housing to the area and will provide housing options for employees who work at CentrePort-area companies.
Work.
Since 2009, more than 150 new companies have chosen the inland port to set up new operations and approximately 2,000 acres are now in various stages of development. This strong rate of growth is expected to continue with the development of CentrePort’s new 665-acre rail park and additional planned industrial parks, which will attract further private investment and create new jobs.

The protection of Little Mountain Park and the creation of more active transport opportunities are important priorities for CentrePort. The RM of Rosser zoning bylaw requires development proposals include sustainability measures, as well as active transportation components (bike paths, bike storage spaces and walkable streets).
